Our History

 Hillcrest Senior Living facility was purchased by Jim and Kathy Birchem on April 1, 2008.

Jim Birchem is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator with an extensive accounting and management background.  He is currently the President of ElderCare of MN.  Jim is a member and past chair of the Care Providers of Minnesota.  Kathy Birchem is a registered nurse and has been involved in healthcare since 1968 working as a dietary aide, nursing assistant, and RN. She has extensive experience in all levels of senior care which includes:  nursing home, home care and assisted living.  Since 2000, she has been involved in the operations of the business.  Kathy is an active member of Care Providers of Minnesota currently serving as the Home Care Nurse on the Manager Council. She also has her Elementary Education Degree.

The Birchems own 6 skilled nursing facilities and 14 assisted living facilities (managing 1 other).  Their philosophy is to assist small towns in rural Minnesota by helping the elderly remain in their hometown communities.  They enjoy working with the elderly and making a home-like place for them; therefore, you will not be surprised to see them visiting at any time of the day.
